Founded in 1998, Retro Studios is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Company, Ltd.  Retro is a state-of-the-art game development studio, working in conjunction with Nintendo to bring award-winning games to Nintendo's cutting-edge next-generation platforms.  Retro Studios is located in beautiful Austin, Texas. Announced by Nintendo in January 2019, Retro Studios is currently in the midst of developing Metroid Prime 4 for the Nintendo Switch.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

 

  • Develop and execute test plans to confirm developer requirements and discover defects in pre-released software.
  • Create detailed reports of defects for development staff daily.
  • Conduct compliance testing to ensure software meets regulatory and/or performance standards or requirements.
  • Test software for reliability, consistency, absence of product defects, and compliance.
  • Test and verify resolved defects to ensure quality control.
  • Work closely with Retro Production and development staff to debug issues.
  • Ensure defects are properly tracked.
  • Assist in testing in-house development tools.
  • Test drivers for various software updates.
  • Support development staff by testing features/gimmicks.
  • Carry out routine tasks and procedures.
  • Operate within the context of defined procedures.
  • Receive work in the form of short-term assignments with processed outlines.

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
  • 1 to 3 years of quality assurance experience preferred.
  • Experience working on and shipping AAA titles is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of the video game industry.
  • Proficient experience with development hardware.
  • Requires an excellent eye for detail.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Basic development tools experience.
  • Working knowledge of the video game development process.
  • Thorough knowledge of Nintendo and industry-related products is preferred.
  • Ability to identify software problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, JIRA, Confluence, video capture software, etc.)
  • Understanding of technical libraries used in video game development.
  • Proficient organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Previous experience with file management, bug tracking, and product testing required.
