Here at Skyhook Games we are looking for experienced 3D environment artists to join our team. As we work for numerous clients, the successful candidate is expected to be able to apply their skills across a range of styles depending on the project. A key part of your role will be ensuring that art assets are delivered both on time and to quality, assisting the team in maintaining our high standards. A strong portfolio of environment work and a passion for realistic environment art would be ideal.
Although our studio is in Liverpool, UK, this is a remote contract position.
Responsibilities:
- Creating high detail environment assets and props from concept art
- Working closely with the art team to achieve desired look and quality across all projects
- Work within the production schedule, manage files and meet deadlines
- Sculpt and model high and low polygon assets and texture them through the PBR pipeline
Skills:
- Experience using Z Brush, Marmoset Tool Bag, Substance Designer/Painter, Maya or Blender
- Portfolio (or ArtStation profile) of work demonstrating a strong capability of producing game ready models
- Strong artistic ability, good understanding of form, composition, colour and lighting
- Knowledge of optimization processes for creating game engine friendly assets
- Highly self-motivated with excellent communication skills
- Strong skillset in traditional 2D sketching, drawing, painting is beneficial
- Solid work ethic, critical approach, and a positive attitude in the face of challenging situations
- Time management and organisation skills
- Quick to learn and comprehend custom in-house tools or technical processes
Desirable:
- 2 years + games industry experience. (Less experience may be acceptable with a strong portfolio)
- Understanding of material and shader setup
- Drawing, sculpting, and other traditional art skills are a plus
- Good understanding of game theory and level design
- Experience leading/working with a team of artists and outsource vendors
- A passion for 3D vehicle art also would be beneficial but is not critical
