The ideal candidate will own and support a variety of core UI/UX systems in Unreal Engine, demonstrating high competency in interface implementation and a true passion for crafting responsive, polished player experiences.
What part will you play?
- Develop and implement key UI/UX systems and features in Unreal Engine (UMG/Slate), with a focus on extensible, data-driven architecture to support online, evolving interfaces in a live environment.
- Work closely with UI/UX designers and artists to translate wireframes, mockups, and interaction designs into performant, pixel-accurate in-game interfaces.
- Work closely with the project engineering team to architect and develop high-quality, responsive, and accessible UI code.
- Participate in all parts of the development process from concept through to live-ops.
- Build and maintain reusable UI widgets, components, and tooling that empower designers and artists to iterate quickly.
- Perform peer code reviews and champion a high standard of code excellence.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on new UI features.
- Work with design and product teams on feature viability, costing, design completeness, and risk assessment.
What do we need from you?
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, working on cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrable experience implementing UI/UX in Unreal Engine, preferably UE5 (UMG and/or Slate).
- Experience on at least one successfully-published game title or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in C++ (Templates, Exception Handling, Multi-Threading, etc.).
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
- Strong understanding of UI architecture patterns (MVVM/MVC), data binding, layout, and state management.
- Solid grasp of UI performance (draw-call/batching considerations) and memory on constrained platforms.
- A keen eye for visual detail, animation, and interaction polish.
- Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
