Atomic Arcade is a brand-new video game development studio located in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area led by industry veterans from AAA game and film studios. We are in the process of staffing up our development team with outstanding talent to build our first multi-platform, AAA game – a bold and contemporary new take on the GI JOE Universe starring the legendary character Snake Eyes! This is an excellent opportunity to not only build an outstanding AAA experience but to also help form the core foundations for the studio and team to build upon. We are proud to be part of Wizards of the Coast which is a division of Hasbro.

  

What You'll Do:
 
  • Create high-quality game animation using both motion capture and keyframe animation techniques
  • Prototype, visualize, and polish gameplay animations, supporting mechanics, and systems
  • Work with the Art, Engineering, and Design Team to invent, build, and implement in-game animations that are incredibly satisfying to play and exciting to watch.
  • Think creatively to find systemic solutions that push animation fidelity and/or increase efficiency
  • Help to implement, maintain, and debug animation systems and iteratively improve animation pipelines and tools
  • Help foster a culture of excellence in-game animation by inspiring the team with your work
 
What You'll Bring:
 
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Gameplay Animator.
  • Passion and experience in character-driven animations, specializing in traversal, ranged, and melee combat.
  • Expert-level skill in mocap data manipulation and processes to deliver compelling real-time performances
  • Well-versed in keyframe animation and the ability to create high-fidelity movement and performances for in-game systems.
  • Experience working in Unreal or other AAA game engines
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated, can perform duties with little oversight
  • Multiple shipped AAA games as a Senior Gameplay Animator (or equivalent)
  • Takes ownership of assignments and proactively identifies new tasks to tackle
 
Nice to Have:
 
  • A background in developing 3rd person action games
