It might ultimately be proof of concept now, but the point of showing a low-count bounce raytracing that still looks decent especially after denoising gives us a nice roadmap on the future. Maybe given time, we will move to this as the new standard or at least a probable alternate to baked lighting.

Unity 5.5 – Splash Screen tools Preview

Unity Technologies gave a preview of Splash Screen tools that are coming to Unity‘s 5.5 beta. They will be located in the Player Settings. Plus and Pro costumers will be able to switch the new tools on and off. Personal Edition users will find the feature enabled by default. Splash Screen tools allow to ad logos to video game projects. Users can rearrange the logos or change their timings.
