If you're a fan of the nostalgic beat-em-up games of yesteryear — think along the lines of classics like Mortal Kombat — then the new rogue-like game IMMORTAL: And the Death that Follows might just catch your interest.

Drawing inspiration from fighting games and 90s anime, it offers a unique blend of old and new, all wrapped up with a distinctive narrative twist.

In IMMORTAL: And the Death that Follows, you step into the shoes of Fudo, the fallen King of Wisdom and former warden of a demigod prison camp. Now a prisoner alongside the demigods he once oversaw, Fudo must grapple with his inner demons and navigate the complex social dynamics of an interdimensional prison. As Fudo's last spark of humanity, you hold the power to influence his choices.

The mechanics of Immortal offer a unique experience, enabling you to develop your fighting style and form your gang within the prison. Battles are dynamic, ranging from free-flow combat against hordes of enemies to intense one-on-one duels. Interestingly, the game even allows you to influence the evolution of your enemies, who level up alongside you.

Immortal is not just about combat, though. The narrative explores themes of power, corruption, and redemption. Fudo's journey from villain to potential hero is fraught with moral choices and dilemmas. Whether you choose to yield to Fudo's power or fight for freedom until the end reflects not only on Fudo's character but also on your own.

The game's attention to detail is also noteworthy. For the developer, even the smallest detail matters, as demonstrated by their improvements to animations that were already completed:

The game underwent closed testing about a year ago. Although the release date is still unknown, you can already add it to your wishlist on Steam if it suits your gaming preferences and follow the developer on Twitter for any furture updates.
