ArmorPaint Gets A $25K Epic Megagrant

Сongrats to the developer behind an open-source PBR texture painting tool called ArmorPaint.

Lubos, the developer of the toolkit, announced the news via Twitter.

"The grant amount is $25,000 which will allow me to keep expanding the project for the whole 2020," wrote Lubos. The developer thanked Epic Games for the opportunity, Robert Konrad for his open-source work, and all ArmorPaint supporters.

For those of you unfamiliar with the tool, it is a stand-alone toolkit designed for physically-based texture painting. The toolkit allows users to drag and drop their 3D models and start painting. You receive visual feedback in the viewport as you paint.

The developer is now working on adding ray-traced baking, painting effects and viewport rendering features running on Direct3D12 and Vulkan.
