Screenwriter Jeb Stuart revealed that he is "no longer involved" in the project.
Die Hard and Vikings: Valhalla screenwriter Jeb Stuart has left the upcoming Assassin's Creed Netflix show.
The live-action Assassin's Creed series was first announced back in October 2020. At the time, Netflix also revealed that it was working on several projects based on the popular Ubisoft video game franchise including live-action, animated, and anime series.
In 2021, it became known that the showrunner of the first Assassin's Creed show would be Jeb Stuart, the screenwriter best known for blockbuster action films like Die Hard and The Fugitive who is also working on Netflix's upcoming historical fiction drama Vikings: Valhalla.
However, it turns out now that Stuart is "no longer involved" in the project. The writer shared the news in an interview with Collider saying that his departure was a decision made by executives. According to Stuart, the show will not be rewritten from the ground up by a new team – instead, they will stick to his initial vision of what the series should be like.
The screenwriter hasn't specified what his vision for the series was. It's also unclear who will take over as Assassin's Creed showrunner in Stuart's place so far.
