The development of the mode would require too much time.
Head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, continues to talk about Baldur's Gate 3 and its upcoming release, sharing what players can expect. This time, the designer revealed that the Game Master (or Dungeon Master) mode from Divinity: Original Sin 2 won't appear in the upcoming game.
For those of you unfamiliar, the mode transforms the RPG into an interactive tabletop session environment. The session leader controls the environment and NPCs, creating unique campaigns for four players in co-op.
Sven Vinke addressed the possibility on the Dropped Frames podcast, saying the mode won't be included because it would require too much time and effort. The designer would love to have this tool in the game because it would make their life easier.
Vincke noted that modders can try to set up the mod, and they will support mods after the release, but it's still very complicated. The mode would require a big team since the game doesn't have a tool for quickly creating entire dungeons.
During the same podcast, the head of the studio also shared that one of his favorite games during the development of Baldur's Gate 3 was Into the Breach on the Switch console. The designer says he isn't great at playing it, but he keeps coming back to it.
