Bandai Namco and ILCA Establish a New Studio Bandai Namco Aces

The new studio is going to "continue to deliver deep and lasting, high-quality content" including working on the Ace Combat series.

Publisher Bandai Namco has partnered with Japanese developer ILCA, creator of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, to establish a brand new studio named Bandai Namco Aces.

The new studio will be headquartered in Tokyo at the same offices used by ILCA and will be led by executives from both Bandai Namco and ILCA. ILCA's CEO Takuya Iwasaki will serve as the president and CEO of Bandai Namco Aces, and Bandai Namco's Kazutoki Kono, best known as the Ace Combat producer and brand leader, will be the executive vice president at the new studio.

ILCA was founded in 2010 initially as a video production company, but soon it found itself branching out into video games. Most notably, the studio worked on the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remake that launched in 2021. The success of the game led to Bandai Namco reaching out the studio to work on the Ace Combat series.

The newly-created studio hasn't specified what projects it is going to work on except for the Ace Combat series, but the companies noted that the new entity will "continue to deliver deep and lasting, high-quality content."

"We will continue to work together with creators in the game and computer graphics industries and game players around the world as one organization, and create experiences that enables them to be a task force," Takuya Iwasaki said.

"We have always strived to provide contents and services that give intense satisfaction and excitement to our fans. In the process, we have come to realize that the core of entertainment lies in the 'heart-pounding emotion' that comes at the moment when creativity moves the 'emotions' of our fans," Kazutoki Kono said. "In order to maximize this value, we hoped to create a new development environment where creators and fans could co-create in the future."
