ShadPS4 is evolving at warp speed.
Over the past few months, we've followed the development of the new PS4 emulator shadPS4, which began with the ability to launch commercial 3D games and progressed through running Red Dead Redemption. Recently, it made a significant breakthrough by booting and running Bloodborne, arguably the most anticipated PlayStation 4 game to become available on PC.
We're definitely witnessing a miracle in the making, as the game is now even running on the Steam Deck. YouTuber Deck Wizard not only attempted to launch Bloodborne on the handheld but also played it, exploring various locations and engaging in combat quite successfully.
Just a month ago, you needed a GeForce RTX 4090 to get the main menu to boot, and now we are here, actually traveling to Yharnam. Judging by the counter, the frame rate is maintained at 32 FPS. Yes, the graphics still look questionable, creating a particularly eerie atmosphere at times, but there is no point in denying progress.
Deck Wizard also noted that Bloodborne hard crashes very often on the Steam Deck and requires a complicated setup to run properly.
Take a look at a couple of other recent Bloodborne PC in-game videos shared by the shadPS4 team:
With such impressive progress being made so quickly, it's exciting to imagine what the developers could achieve by the end of the year. Who knows, perhaps Bloodborne on PC might be closer than we think.
