Eric Baptizat will be leading the return of the franchise as a game director.
Eric Baptizat, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game director who has also contributed to the development of other Ubisoft projects, will be leading the recently announced Dead Space remake as its game director at EA Motive. Baptizat left Ubisoft after 16 years in 2020 and joined EA to create an unannounced title. His LinkedIn page confirms he’s now managing the new Dead Space game.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was Baptizat’s first time as a game director but he also worked as lead game designer on other Assassin's Creed games including Origins, Unity, and Black Flag.
For those of you who missed the news, the Dead Space remake is described as both a remaster and spiritual successor. The development team promises an improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics, and more. Little is known about the release date and it appears the game is still in its early stages, but the remake is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
