Durance of Hate from Diablo 2 Reimagined in Unreal Engine

Michał Wawruch did a fantastic job recreating Mephisto's lair.

Diablo 4 might be out collecting new fans, but to me, Diablo 2 is a timeless classic. If you need an extra incentive to replay the game, check out this Durance of Hate reimagined by Environment Artist Michał Wawruch in Unreal Engine 5.

This amazing work recreates Mephisto's lair adding some changes here and there but retaining the same eerie atmosphere and bloody assets. There is a comparison of the same scenes in the video so you can clearly see the distinction between Diablo 2, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and Wawruch's project.

The centerpiece of the work is a giant portal and a whirlwind of bones behind it. And, of course, skulls and gore everywhere.

Wawruch says Durance of Hate was created for fun and to develop workflow with Nanite and Lumen. The best part is you can explore these halls yourself (if you have the GTX 1060 at least) in the demo kindly provided by the artist.
