Dive into exploring the environment originally showcased during the State of Unreal event at GDC.
Earlier this year, during State of Unreal at GDC, Epic Games showcased new Unreal Engine features in a demo titled Electric Dreams. Today, Epic announced they're releasing the complete environment from the demo as a free sample project.
Originally, the demo was meant to showcase an experimental new Procedural Content Generation framework (PCG), a new material authoring system called Substrate, and the latest physics developments in Unreal Engine. Now users can explore the demo's lush jungle environment, which was constructed with the help of Quixel assets. Using a set of assets, PCG enables teams to quickly and seamlessly populate worlds, which can be adjusted in real-time based on gameplay or other requirements.
Features:
- Iterate faster, with immediate feedback from the live-editing tools
- Create new gameplay opportunities with the runtime component
- Easily customize, share, and reuse your procedural content at different complexity levels
- Build your own tools using the extensibility features
- Leverage integration with other UE features such as Geometry Scripting
