The studio plans to build fantastical interactive game worlds that can "grow into large universes across different mediums."
Former Amazon Studios and Fox Network Group executive Sharon Tal Yguado has announced the establishment of a new studio called Astrid Entertainment. The studio has received a "high seven-figure" backing from investors including NetEase, Stardom Ventures, and Tower 26 Ventures.
Astrid Entertainment will operate remotely for now and its leadership will be announced "in the coming months", with the announcement saying that the team will include "accomplished and innovative" developers who have experience in both AAA and indie production.
The new studio shared that it is planning to create interactive worlds that can "grow into large universes across different mediums" and its debut game is set to be a multiplayer title where "players will evolve worlds differently based on their actions and choices", however, no further details on the nature of this project were revealed.
Sharon Tal Yguado is known for building up projects at Amazon Studios, Fox, and others, where she contributed to such shows as The Walking Dead, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Boys, and The Wheel of Time.
"I love developing rich worlds and watching millions of people engage and build communities around them. We are seeing a new generation that wants something different. They enjoy walking into evocative worlds that give them freedom, let them hang out with their friends, explore, discover and create their own stories," Yguado said in a press release.
