Geometry Nodes-Powered Dune Sandworm Animation in Blender

The sequence utilizes EmberGen for sand VFX and Eevee for rendering.

3D Artist Jesse "Blenderesse" Miettinen, who a couple of days ago unveiled Untilify, the "bestest" solution for untiling 3D texture coordinates on both even and uneven terrain, impresses us for the second time this week with an amazing short animation inspired by the Dune series.

Set up in Blender using Geometry Nodes, the animation portrays the iconic Sandworm, set up procedurally using Jesse's custom-made worm generator. Additionally, the author utilized JangaFX's EmberGen to simulate floating sand particles and Eevee to render the sequence. In the future, the artist plans to refine the animation further, aiming to render it in Cycles for an even more polished finish.
