Isaac Bratzel, a world-renowned expert on digital humans and virtual influencers, who previously played a crucial role in Brud – the company behind one of the most significant digital influencers in the world, Lil Miquela, has recently founded a new company called AvatarOS. In a new interview with Fxguide, Bratzel shared some details about the company and its mission.

According to Bratzel, AvatarOS (as in Avatar OS: Operating System) seeks to offer exceptional cross-platform avatars at scale without compromising human connection in the virtual world. It launched as a creative center that enables organizations to create their digital humans by utilizing the latest and interdependent technologies and offers accessible and scalable solutions to companies seeking to leverage complex technologies.

As an expert in authentic digital humans, Isaac Bratzel faces a critical challenge in providing authenticity at scale. Speaking to Fxguide, he acknowledged that creators must solve this issue but said he believes that AvatarOS can help by enabling realistic and scalable production of animated content within budget and timeline constraints.

"Creators really need to solve that piece. Maybe we can help too, but what we really want to solve is helping creators to then be able to produce animated content within a more realistic and scalable budget and timeline, so that once they have that audience and story they want to tell, they’re not blocked," Bratzel said.

He also added that the toolset that his company creates will enable more lifelike and dynamic characters that can captivate an audience without exponential cost increases. While this is a challenging task, Bratzel says he is excited about working on it.

Bratzel claims that the operating system that AvatarOS is developing can enable dynamic avatars on any platform, which can unlock the potential of humans within the virtual ecosystem. Furthermore, according to him, it will allow virtual talent to scale like software.

Bratzel's approach to addressing the challenge of digital humans is to break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. He also advocates for leveraging industry best practices and standards, like Epic Games' MetaHuman.

"What is exciting to me is this is leading to standards and I think interoperability is going to be a big thing that will allow a lot of really interesting things to happen," he said.

According to Bratzel, his company's focus is not on low-cost budget solutions but on producing impactful and often real-time solutions that leverage advanced machine learning to create a manageable and predictable avatar workflow. He, however, acknowledges that achieving this goal will take time, despite the rapid advancements in AI technology.

Bratzel added that AvatarOS is also exploring the backend of the "AI brain" and is in discussions with various companies to connect conversation AI and other technologies with lifelike avatars. He believes that the correct application of these technologies can lead to more engaging interactions, particularly in interactive real-time applications.

However, according to him, the company is not prioritizing neural rendering, and instead, Bratzel envisions the future of immersive experiences built on more classic 3D rendering approaches. While he acknowledges the possibilities of neural rendering, he believes that traditional 3D will be the longer-term solution.
