Jagex Reports Record-High Revenue of £125 Million

This figure represents a 4% growth compared to 2020, and the seventh year of growth for the company.

British video game developer and publisher Jagex, best known for RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, has published its financials highlights for 2021, revealing a record-high revenue of nearly £125 million.

According to the company, the £125 million figure, which is 4% higher than Jagex's revenue generated in 2020, reflects the seventh consecutive year of sustained growth. The company also noted that this growth was driven by the RuneScape franchise, which reached its highest number of paying members in 2021.

In its announcement, apart from the commercial success, Jagex also recalled some of the significant milestones that were reached in 2021, which included the company's acquisition by The Carlyle Group, the 20th anniversary of its flagship MMO RuneScape, and the launch of RuneScape Mobile.

"Since our acquisition by The Carlyle Group at the beginning of 2021, they have been hugely supportive of our long-term plans to grow the Jagex group and of our vision to be a leader in community-driven games," said Jagex CEO Phil Mansell.

"Their support combined with our continued revenue growth has allowed us to make big moves in the gaming space in 2022 – such as our recent acquisition of Pipeworks Studios – and celebrate significant milestones like reaching over 300 million accounts created for the RuneScape franchise."
