The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also known as SAG-AFTRA, has rejected the latest contract offer from major Hollywood studios due to differences over various issues, notably artificial intelligence. This decision was announced on Monday via the union's Twitter account, where they stated: "There are several essential items on which we still do not have an agreement, including AI. We will keep you informed as events unfold."
The negotiating committee of SAG-AFTRA disclosed on November 4 that they received a new offer from the studios, which was presented as the "last, best & final" proposal. Negotiations between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, representing major employers such as Walt Disney Co., Netflix Inc., and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., have been ongoing intermittently since the actors initiated a strike in July.
As of now, the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers has not commented on the situation yet, creating uncertainty about the next steps in the negotiation process and potential resolution of the differences between the two parties.
