The ad-supported tier might cost much cheaper than the current plans but might come with subscription restrictions such as delayed access to first-party Xbox titles and the inability to stream games to different devices.
Microsoft might be planning to offer a cheaper ad-supported tier for its Xbox Game Pass subscription.
The news that the company is probably considering this option comes from a survey sent out to European customers (via ResetEra). According to the screenshot of the survey, the cheaper Game Pass plan might cost €3 per month and might offer Xbox exclusives six months after their release as well as access to multiplayer.
If the plan is added to Game Pass, users who purchase it will be shown ads before launching games from the library. The plan will also not allow to stream games to different devices – only downloading to a PC or console will be available.
Alongside the ad-supported plan, the screenshot shows a multi-user family plan that will allow up to five users to access games on PC and consoles. According to the survey, the plans might cost around €22 per month.
While Microsoft has confirmed an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan as being in the works, there is currently no confirmation from the company that it's planning to add a cheaper ad-supported tier. It's also unclear whether the survey posted on ResetEra is a real Microsoft questionnaire. However, even if it is, it doesn't guarantee that the tech giant will add such a plan – it might just explore this possibility.
Do you think it's possible that Microsoft will add the ad-supported plan to its subscription service? If yes, would you consider purchasing it?
