Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will become a part of Microsoft 365 – they’ll all be branded with Microsoft 365 soon and will have a new logo.
Microsoft announced that it is making changes to its Microsoft Office branding – after over 30 years, it will be renamed to "Microsoft 365".
As part of the rebranding, the company will change the name and logo of the Office.com website in November 2022, and in 2023, Microsoft will update all Office suite apps for Windows and mobile devices.
"Over the last couple years, Microsoft 365 has evolved into our flagship productivity suite, so we are creating an experience to help you get the most out of Microsoft 365," the company wrote. "In the coming months, Office.com, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features."
The company noted that Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are not going anywhere – they will become part of Microsoft 365 which will also include such apps as Teams, Loop, Clipchamp, Stream, and Microsoft’s new Designer app.
In 2023, Microsoft will recognize the Office brand as obsolete, but sales of the Office suite will not stop immediately – the company will continue to offer one-time purchases of those apps to consumers and businesses through Office 2021 and Office LTSC plans, apparently temporarily.
