NVIDIA's DLSS 3 Can Theoretically Work on Older RTX GPUs

It wouldn't, however, provide as much benefit.

Two days ago, alongside other technological advancements revealed by NVIDIA, the company also presented DLSS 3, the third generation of the company's AI-powered performance multiplier designed to boost performance while maintaining great image quality and responsiveness. And although many developers, including CD Projekt, Techland, Unity, and Epic Games, quickly decided to introduce the technology to their projects, many regular gamers started wondering why this technology has to be exclusive to the upcoming RTX 4000 series.

In a recent Twitter thread started by Vice President of Applied Deep Learning Research at NVIDIA Bryan Catanzaro, the developer addressed such questions, stating that it is actually possible to run DLSS 3 on older RTX GPUs after some tweaking. However, neither games nor apps won't benefit much from the downgraded Deep Learning Super Sampling because the technology utilizes the Optical Flow Accelerator, which has been significantly improved in Ada over Ampere.
