The Polygonflow team talked about their latest tool, Dash, highlighting its key features and outlining the benefits it offers to the creative community, and shared insights into the company's future plans.
Introduction
The 3D world-building process is known to be quite time-consuming and cumbersome, and novel AI-driven solutions don’t seem to provide better alternatives either. After working on Megascans for quite some years, it was clear that most artists didn’t have the right tools to create worlds even when given high-quality assets.
And thus Polygonflow was born: Our mission is to simplify the world-building process down to its essence: creative, iterative, and fun.
About Dash
You can think of Dash as your copilot for world-building: Its prompt-based interface allows you to do everything from creating a ground, browsing materials to apply to it, scattering objects on it, creating a camera, applying color grading, etc…
It’s a comprehensive ecosystem that makes it possible to work in Unreal Engine without ever touching the software’s bloated workflow. Everything happens through Dash’s blazing fast and simplified workflow.
Dash is exclusively built for Unreal Engine 5, and we plan to bring it to more software in the future.
Audience of Dash
Hobbyists and freelance and studio environment artists are Dash’s main audience: we want to empower people to create beautiful worlds and have been actively working with various artists to get the best user experience out there.
Company's Thoughts on AI
We want people to create art that they can feel a sense of pride and ownership in, and current AI systems just don’t give you either of those.
Instead of giving you a prompt interface through which you’re spoon-fed art, we’re working on systems that make help you better understand what makes a good composition, generate a variation of your props and other task-specific actions that remain true to our goal: Helping artist make art with no technical hurdle along the way.
Plans for Future
We want to be the go-to community for artists passionate about environment creation and will be building our Youtube channel to discuss everything from Dash’s feature set to finding inspiration, discussing the future of digital art, and doing live streams.
We’re also working on novel physics-based placement systems, a better content library for Unreal Engine, AI systems for asset variants creation, and more.
Recent Funding Rounds' Insights
Last year, Polygonflow successfully raised $5 million in a Series A funding round. This investment was led by GP Bullhound, with participation from Rendered.VC and Bill Collis, former CEO of Foundry and VP at Epic Games. Our pre-seed investors include individuals Matthew Ball, whose blog post we cannot recommend enough.
With this funding, we aim to expand our team, further develop Dash, and increase our support for additional 3D software platforms.
