Solo Developer Unveils a Parody of The Day Before's Gameplay Trailers

Check out The Day After, a UE5-powered parody trailer created by Crimson.

Following months of hard work and $1500 worth of marketplace assets, Solo Game Developer and Twitch Streamer known only as Crimson has finally unveiled The Day After, a gorgeous Unreal Engine 5-powered parody of the now-dead The Day Before's gameplay trailers.

For those unfamiliar, Crimson has been working on the parody since March 2023, dedicating more time to it later in the year. The idea to create the trailer came when the developer noticed how each trailer for The Day Before looked different from the others, a detail that inspired Crimson to set up their own trailer for a fictional "zombie survival shooter" game.

Throughout the entire development process, the author has been regularly sharing incredible WIP demos, showcasing how the new mechanics, animations, and assets were set up for the trailer. Having invested over 300 hours into the project, Crimson has officially announced its completion, revealing the finalized trailer via YouTube, embedded above.

"The parody gameplay trailer for 'The Day After' is out now," commented the creator. "Thank you everyone for your support and patience as I worked on this mini project, it's been an absolute blast to work on and I look forward to future endeavors."

Please note that the goal of the project was only to recreate a trailer and not to develop an entire game. In the future, however, the author does plan to tackle the genre more seriously and create a fully-fledged co-op zombie shooter.

"I've had tons of fun with this project and I've always wanted to dabble in the survival genre, I believe after my current game (Suit for Hire), I'll be working on a co-op zombie survival game, I hope you look forward to it as much as I am," Crimson added.
