During the past fiscal year, the company saw incredible growth in sales as well as in operating and net profits.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The Pokémon Company has recently released its financial results for the fiscal year ended February 28. According to Kantan Games analyst Serkan Toto, who cites the filing from the Japanese government’s official gazette, the company saw incredible growth in sales – they reached 204 billion yen ($1.6 billion) reflecting a 70.4% increase from the previous fiscal year.

Operating and net profits also grew significantly to 59 billion yen ($460 million) and 41 billion yen ($320 million). Operating profit showed a 115% year-on-year growth, and net profit increased by 123% compared to the previous year.

One of the main reasons for the company's growth was the success of the titles released during the year which include Pokémon Snap, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond

Pokémon Snap which was released in April 2021 took the No.1 spot in the UK physical retail charts in its debut week selling four times more copies at launch than the original game did. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launched in November 2021 sold around 6 million copies during the first week becoming the second biggest Switch launch of all time in Japan.

The latest Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which was released in January 2022 sold over 6.5 million copies in the first week after its launch. In the UK, the game was on top of the physical sales chart and was the fourth biggest Pokémon retail launch of all time.
