A Plague Tale: Requiem Has Had 1 Million Players in Two Weeks

Apparently, the fact that the game is capped at 30 FPS on PS5 didn't prevent the new title from attracting the audience.

Focus Entertainment, the publisher of A Plague Tale: Requiem, revealed that the game developed by Asobo Studio has surpassed 1 million players within just the first two weeks of its release.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was released on October 17 and immediately appeared on the Xbox Game Pass subscription, which means that the announced figure does not reflect the game's sales. However, the company was still happy with the title's launch and thanked fans for their interest.

"More than one million players have already embarked on an incredible journey with Amicia and Hugo in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Thank you so much!" Focus Entertainment wrote.

In case you missed it, Plague Tale: Requiem is a sequel to 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence which follows the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo who are hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by swarms of rats that are spreading the black plague.

In the new part, the siblings leave their homeland and travel to new regions where they once again come across a flood of devouring rats (the game has now 60 times more rats than the original game) and have to survive fighting numerous enemies and overcoming various challenges.

The 1 million figure is a pretty good result, especially considering that the game is capped at 30 FPS on PlayStation 5. The news that Gotham Knights, another recently-released game is locked at 30 FPS on current-gen consoles, for instance, caused a number of players to cancel their pre-orders.

In addition to the announcement, Focus also published an accolades trailer boasting some of the praise the game has received from the media.
