Even though there hasn't been any official announcement so far, "people with knowledge of the matter" recently shared with Bloomberg that Steve Hotelling, Vice President of Apple, is stepping down from his position and retiring. These insiders, who asked not to be named, said that the move has not yet been made public.

Hotelling worked on important technologies for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch products, as well as made contibution to the upcoming Vision Pro headset. He is also known for his work on Touch ID and camera engineering at Apple. Additionally, he led advancements in depth-sensing technologies for AR, as well as worked on components relating to haptic feedback and ProMotion high-frame-rate displays.

Colleagues noted that, other than Apple's chip efforts, Hotelling was the primary driver for innovation in the company's products. Now, his responsibilities are being divided among various employees who report directly to Johny Srouji, Apple's Senior Vice President of hardware technologies.

Speaking of Apple, in October, the company showed MacBook Pro with the M3 family of chips, which seems to make 3D artists delighted since it has 128GB of unified memory and it will let you work in software like Substance 3D Painter and Maya without any problems.
