Artist Demonstrates That Painting in 3D is Similar to 2D

A new jaw-dropping project by Omar Faruq Tawsif.

At this point, it's clear that we absolutely love Omar Faruq Tawsif's painterly 3D works, and this latest one is no exception. He recreated Carol Smith Myer's painting in Blender, coloring the objects that are actually simple shapes but become recognizable food under his brushstrokes.

If you were wondering whether painting in 3D is like doing so in 2D, Tawsif's answer is, "Pretty much."

Food is not the only subject Tawsif is great at depicting, although he has his fair share of those

On his ArtStation and X/Twitter, you can find out how to create in this style from one of his many tutorials on transforming paintings into 3D art, setting up lighting, and texturing game assets.

This 2D-like style is becoming pretty popular, it seems, and you can find other artists creating similar visuals, like this delicious soup, beautiful still life render, tasty ramen, Studio Ghibli-style food, and the entirety of Gaku Tada's Blender art.
