Larian's CEO Swen Vincke recently had an interview where he discussed the state of Baldur's Gate 3 and what lies ahead for the team.
Vincke refrained from mentioning which works currently inspire him the most in terms of the setting. He states that revealing it would give away his next game. The designer noted though that he not only loves fantasy but also enjoys science fiction.

When asked why it was so important for Larian to have local co-op in the console versions of the game, Vincke explained that he used to play a lot of World of Warcraft with his wife and thought about how much more convenient it would be for them to have local co-op.
Vincke admitted they had to get rid of some things. For example, the team planned to include a magic dispelling spell in the game for a long time, but when they thought about the number of different spells, they decided it would be too complicated.
Full interview:
Swen Vincke says he's already working on the next game after releasing the PS5 version. The rest of the team will continue working on Baldur's Gate 3, and there will be patches, epilogues, and more, but the head of the studio is ready to move on.
Vincke emphasized that Larian is working on different epilogues to expand the ending of Baldur's Gate 3 because fans considered it too abrupt and requested additional content.
The CEO of the studio did not mention whether Baldur's Gate 3 will receive a major DLC, but he believes that it does not necessarily have to continue the story.

Vincke does not know if Larian's next game will be released in early access like the previous games, but the scenario is likely. The designer added he is grateful to the players for their feedback during the early access of Baldur's Gate 3 and believes that without them, the game would have been less impressive.
