Activision Blizzard executive Rod Ferguson has confirmed that Diablo IV will not be released on Xbox or PC Game Pass.
Diablo general manager Rod Ferguson has stated that the upcoming Diablo IV will not be available on Xbox or PC Game Pass, at least not in the near future.
Although there were no clear rumors or indications that Diablo IV would be featured on Microsoft's service, according to Fergusson, Blizzard had received inquiries about it. He then provided a concise response to this question on Twitter.
"It's awesome seeing the excitement around the Diablo IV Beta, and our Wolf Pack puppy! We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I want to let you know we have no plans for that," he wrote.
Although Microsoft is determined to buy Activision Blizzard, which would give the company full ownership of the Diablo IP, probably resulting in the game eventually becoming available on Game Pass, the acquisition is yet far from being closed and there is a chance that the deal will be blocked by regulators.
So until Microsoft completes all the regulatory requirements, Activision Blizzard will continue to operate as an independent entity. And for now, the company has chosen not to add Diablo IV to the subscription service.
