Bright Gambit, an investment initiative focusing on investing in games, announced the first wave of games it will be funding.
The projects chosen by the indie support initiative include Ogre Pixel's Lonesome Village, Helpnode's Sanya, Pharos Interactive's Kredolis, SektaHouse's Grunnd, and Woodhill Interactive's Orten Was the Case. One of the five games is a project created by a solo developer, and the rest are small-team games.
Lonesome Village is a puzzle/sim game made by a Mexican developer Ogre Pixel. It is the studio's first PC project – previously, Ogre Pixel specialized in creating mobile games.
Sanya is a 2D narrative adventure game developed by a two-person studio Helpnode. Bright Gambit describes it as a "game about the warmth of fleeting childhood memories" set in the post-soviet town in the "nostalgic period of the 90s". Kredolis is a first-person puzzle adventure game that is slated for release in Q3/Q4 2022. It's the debut title made by self-taught developer Pharos Interactive.
Kredolis
Grunnd is a David Lynch-inspired surrealist adventure game made by Estonian-based developer SektaHouse. The game is planned to release on PC at the end of 2022. Finally, Orten Was the Case is a detective/ puzzle adventure game inspired by Groundhog Day.
Bright Gambit was launched in January 2022. According to the founders, it is designed to support small indie games "in areas with less access to funding or ways to break through into the industry."
"There is a big gap in terms of funding and market experience for small development teams and we would like to play a small role to bridge that," backer and co-founder of Bright Gambit Andreea Chifu said. "It is often harder for games with a niche sensibility and budget to receive funding and access to information especially in regions where games are not a common investment”.
