Bungie's Marathon Will Cost $40 Despite Concord's Failure

Sony is looking at Helldivers 2.

It's been a while since Bungie announced its sci-fi PVP extraction shooter Marathon, and we finally have some details about it.

According to Forbes' sources, Sony will be selling the game for $40, the same as Concord, despite its recent failure. On the other hand, the company has a better example of Helldivers 2 with the same price, and even if it did think about changing the strategy to free-to-play, it's a little too late for that: Marathon is slated for 2025.

Other than the purchase price, the shooter will have "cosmetic shop/battle pass stuff," Forbes says. If you need a point of reference for its hero system, it can be compared to Apex Legends, "but with more customization." The characters will have individuality and unique abilities, such as double jump, fast revive, and invisibility.

Forbes also mentions that the gear and guns you find can be customized. Moreover, some gameplay buffs you earn from XP apply to all characters in different changeable skill trees, and there are "universal implants you slot into your character for further customization."

"Marathon is a sci-fi PVP extraction shooter set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV. Players take on the role of cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners and can play solo or in crews in a world full of evolving persistent zones, where any run can lead to greatness."

Bungie

Earlier this year, Insider Gaming reported that Bungie aims for Marathon to be the "ultimate live service," introducing minimal load times and secrets on the maps. There is also a limited oxygen supply you have to constantly think about.

According to Forbes, Bungie is not going to reveal much about Marathon until the spring of 2025, so stay tuned, read the full article here, and join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitterLinkedInTikTok, and Reddit, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
