CD PROJEKT RED Explained Why Phantom Liberty Will Be Cyberpunk 2077's Only DLC

It's a "technological decision."

We've known for a long time now that Phantom Liberty is going to be the first and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Now, CD PROJEKT RED's SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski explained the reason behind this, saying it's a "technological decision", and it doesn't matter how well the upcoming DLC sells – there won't be another one.

“It’s a technological decision to be honest,” he said (via VGC). “This is the last time we’re working on the Red Engine for the time being at least, and in the foreseeable future as you know we are working on the Unreal Engine from Epic. This was one of the key reasons why we decided this was the only one.”

This is basically a longer version of what the company's CEO said a year ago: Phantom Liberty will be the last project powered by REDengine when it comes on September 26.

The DLC will include the massive Update 2.0 (available for anyone for free) and bring new perks, redesigned cyberware, new weapons and vehicles, revamped police, a Relic skill tree, and a fresh story, of course.

The studio is planning to redeem itself in front of its fans with this expansion and show "what they are capable of".

The Cyberpunk DLC isn't even available for XBox One users that bought that game.  That is unfair to its customers.  I looked at all versions in the digital store, and nowhere is there an XBox One DLC version.

That is a real slap in the face!

I have bought Witcher products over the years, and now because I don't have X|S (which don't have alot of game options I want right now) my husband and I don't get to play DLC for a game we bought pre-order on XBox One.

Why is no-one commenting on this?
