Teun Torenbeek, a Digital Artist and 3D Character Animator also known as Temtor, showed how to make this effect using Blender Simulation Nodes.
Teun Torenbeek, a Digital Artist and 3D Character Animator known online as Temtor, has shared a tutorial on creating afterimages, or "ghosting" animations, which appear when a character moves very fast.
According to the creator, the animation was made within two days. The author explained that the ghosting effect looks best in scenes where the camera moves and rotates a lot, as that's hard to recreate in a 3rd party program. As stated by the artist, the tutorial is a "little introduction to Simulation Nodes."
