Check Out This Course on Hard-Surface Modeling for Beginners

The course 3D Artist Jan van den Hemel covers a workflow of modeling using a concept image.

3D Artist Jan van den Hemel has presented a new course on Blender – Hard Surface Modeling for Beginners.

The course follows a workflow of creating a 3D model based on concept art and staying true to it throughout the entire pipeline. The course's structure includes two chapters. In Chapter 1, you will find information on setting up reference images and creating the initial iteration of the model using the best modeling techniques for each part. Chapter 2, launching in January 2025, is dedicated to refining the model by creating proper quad topology, preparing it for animation, and optimizing it for export to engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.

This course includes concept art and reference images created by talented concept artist Kenn Yap, also known as Chromamoma. The tutor provides you with Blend files for each stage of the modeling process.

Apart from being step-by-step beginner-friendly, the course offers you a direct connection with the tutor: you can ask questions directly in the comment section under each lesson. You can also download the course for offline use.

The tutor is 3D Artist Jan van den Hemel, the author of nearly 900 one-minute Blender tutorials, all available on YouTube, and the amazing book Blender Secrets.
