Check Out This Skinned Mesh Particle System Made In Godot

Technical Artist Leon Denise shared a WIP of a custom particle system that prints the position data on a map with mesh UV.

Using only existing Godot systems, this technique employs a custom shader to print the position to a map and custom particles to read the map, currently relying on mesh UV.

While this skinned mesh particle system is still a work in progress and Leon Denise has plans to explore the engine's own abstraction called RenderingDevice, have a look at the artist's other Godot experiments below, including games and Arduino implementations, and Shadertoy art:
