Creating Procedural Claw Slices With Blender's Geometry Nodes

Cartesian Caramel demonstrated how to set up a Geometry Nodes-powered effect where claws leave real marks on the surface.

Cartesian Caramel, a renowned 3D Artist known for producing fantastic simulations, visual effects, and animations, has shared a new experiment, presenting Blender 4.2's Geometry Nodes-powered claw slices that leave actual marks on the surface.

The artist does most of his projects live, and you can see the creation process for this piece that would make Wolverine proud in his latest YouTube video:

Previously, Cartesian Caramel showcased Blender 4.2's capabilities by unveiling a series of experiments with its Ray Portal BSDF node, which transports entering rays to another location within the scene, essentially allowing one to render portals, create non-euclidean-style VFX, and set up lots of other production rendering tricks:
