Croc Legend of the Gobbos' Devs Return with the Remaster

Argonaut Games returns after 20 years, enhancing the beloved game's graphics and mechanics while bringing a sense of nostalgia.

Argonaut Games, the developer of Starglider, Starglider 2, Star Fox, and Croc Legend of the Gobbos, founded by Jez San OBE in 1982, returns to the industry 20 years after its last release. The studio intends to launch a remaster of its classic IP and some new original titles.

The first project will be a remaster of Croc Legend of the Gobbos, Argonaut's 1997 hit. The game follows the story of an adorable crocodile who embarks on a journey to rescue the Gobbos from the evil Baron Dante. The game will return with improved visuals and control mechanics, bringing the players a sense of nostalgia. Also, the new version will be accompanied by Crocipedia, an extensive knowledge base that contains historical game design documents, concept art, animation tests, team member interviews, and more. The new version will be available on consoles and PC.

"We wanted to honor the original game's legacy while introducing it to a new audience," said Mike Arkin, the Co-CEO of Argonaut Games. "The HD remaster allows us to do just that. It's been a labor of love for our team, and we can't wait to share it with players on all the current consoles and PC later this year." The studio's founder, Jez San OBE, also expressed his enthusiasm about the company's return, saying he was thrilled to see the studio's name back after twenty years away. He also noted that Argonaut always pushed the boundaries of what's possible in gaming.

Croc's remaster is only the beginning of the Argonaut Games' return. Gary Sheinwald, the Co-CEO of Argonaut Games, said that the studio has "further exciting announcements in the pipeline in the coming months."
