Dan Houser's Studio Presented Its First Two Projects

GTA's creator is working on a graphic novel called American Caper and an audio series A Better Paradise.

The co-founder of Rockstar Games and GTA creator Dan Houser started a new company called Absurd Ventures in 2021. Now, he has finally presented its first two projects: American Caper and A Better Paradise.

If you expect them to be video games, you'll be disappointed. American Caper is a graphic novel about two ordinary, badly damaged American families "in a world of corrupt business, inept politics, and bungling crime." There, you'll enjoy illustrations by Simon Bisley, a comic book artist known for his work on ABC Warriors, Lobo, and Sláine.

A Better Paradise, on the other hand, is an "existential suspense thriller", a 12-episode audio fiction series set in the near future. Absurd Ventures has partnered with QCODE, a company that produces podcasts and other audio stories.

The company hasn't shared much about these experiences yet but promised to show more in the coming months. The stories are expected to be released sometime in 2024.

Absurd Ventures was officially revealed this summer with the aim to focus on creating new IPs "across all platforms and for all formats". Not so long ago, Houser was joined by Michael Unsworth, former Vice President of Writing at Rockstar Games who had written for popular games like Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 and contributed to Grand Theft Auto 4, Max Payne 3, and other games. He is now Head of Story and Creative Management at Absurd Ventures.
