David Jaffe Surprised by Lack of Critical Reviews for Tears of the Kingdom's Graphics

Twister Metal and God of War creator David Jaffe expressed surprise at the lack of critical reviews for Tears of the Kingdom, considering the current emphasis on graphics quality.

Game designer David Jaffe, known for his work on the Twisted Metal and God of War series, recently shared his opinion on the recently released The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, focusing on the game's graphics quality in particular.

According to Jaffe, he generally doesn't pay much attention to a game's visuals. However, he said that he was taken aback by the absence of any critical reviews for Nintendo's latest game in a time where graphics quality is heavily emphasized.

"I don't give a fuck about amazing production value+visuals. A great game is a great game. Just starting and so far, so good," he wrote in a tweet. "But given how much everyone goes ape shit over visuals, it's staggering how this game can look like this and not get at least a little dinged by reviews."

The game designer also emphasized that, in his view, gameplay holds the major importance. Nevertheless, he couldn't overlook the fact that, in his opinion, Tears of the Kingdom appeared somewhat "bland and old-looking" in terms of visuals.

In one of his recent streams, the developer also mentioned that he found the controls in Tears of the Kingdom to be rather uncomfortable, mainly due to the game's multiple abilities. Despite this criticism, Jaffe acknowledged that he still enjoyed playing Nintendo's adventure game, especially praising its puzzles and gameplay mechanics.

You think Ocarina of Time has better visuals thanks BoTW and TotK? That's some f*cking serious rose tinted glasses you are wearing. What a joke.
