Deloitte: 45% of Gamers Wish to See More Video Games Based on Movies and TV Shows

The report also reveals that 40% of respondents below the age of 40 socialize more through video games than in real life.

According to Deloitte's yearly Digital Media Trends report, slightly less than 50% of the surveyed gamers expressed their desire to see more games that are licensed from other screen properties.

The results indicate that out of the 1,197 surveyed gamers, 45% would like to see more of the movies and TV shows they love to be transformed into video games.

Additionally, the Deloitte report looked at how people's use of different forms of entertainment relates to each other. For instance, 44% of gamers stated that their decision to play a particular video game was influenced by other forms of media such as TV or films and nearly half (49%) of gamers frequently come across new music while playing video games.

Apart from entertainment, the report also examined the social benefits of video games, particularly in terms of fostering social interaction. The study revealed that 40% of Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2009) and Millennial (born between 1983 and 1996) respondents reported that they socialize more through video games than in person.

According to the study, almost half of Gen Z and Millennials feel that playing video games improves their self-image, and over 70% of them feel more confident after winning in a game. On the other hand, only 19% of the older generations feel better about their self-image in video games, but almost half of them experience an increase in self-confidence after succeeding in video games.

Deloitte also analyzed the habits of 515 dedicated gamers in contrast to 439 casual gamers and discovered that 62% of committed gamers consider meeting up with friends in video games as a crucial method of spending time together, while only 29% of casual gamers feel the same way.
