"Launch is just the beginning."
In the latest video, Diablo 4 developers talked about endgame and explained what you can do once you reach it. The RPG has a lot to offer, so you won't be bored when the campaign comes to an end.
"After the player has finished the campaign, there's a lot more game to go and participate in. They gain access to a special – what we call – Capstone Dungeon that they have to complete. Once they finish this Capstone Dungeon, they're going to gain access to the first World Tier. As you complete the World Tier, it will open up the opportunity for you to go into your next World Tier. That involves unlocking powerful loot, new items, and more advantages for your player to have a better opportunity at endgame."
You can expand your skill tree into the Paragon system, which provides more depth, customization, and options. The Paragon Board can be rotated so you can choose a different path. There is also the Codex of Power, which holds the aspects related to the character. The aspects have a chance to drop from dungeons and allow you to make Legendary items.
You can also experience Nightmare Dungeons by bringing a sigil that alters your playstyle to one of the instances you've already cleared. Nightmare Dungeons are more difficult and have additional objectives and affixes, which add a degree of difficulty.
When you enter endgame, the forces of Hell will start to have more influence in parts of Sanctuary. By killing them, you will get special shards to purchase big rewards that are available at caches that are found throughout Helltide areas.
The developers also mentioned the Fields of Hatred – PvP areas of the world offering opportunities to collect shards. You will need to purify them first, and other players will try to stop you.
"Launch is just the beginning. One of the things we're really focused on is creating a living, breathing set of updates for players to engage with after the game has gone live. It's really just going to be a way to keep coming back and experiencing more Diablo IV in fresh ways."
