Director Sam Raimi Addresses Rumors of His Involvement in Spider-Man 4

"I'm sure I would hear about it if it was in the works."

The renowned director of the Spider-Man trilogy, Sam Raimi, has finally addressed the widespread rumor that he is working on Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire. Unfortunately, his statement might disappoint fans who have been eagerly awaiting good news.

As reported by IGN, during a recent WonderCon interview with CBR, Sam Raimi clarified that while he's heard the rumors, he is not currently working on the project.

Given the current success of the Spider-Man movies featuring Tom Holland, Raimi expressed uncertainty about whether Marvel and Columbia would be interested in revisiting the older storyline. He said:

"Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don't know that they're going to go back to me, and say, 'Well, folks, we can also tell that story!' I'm not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it."

Raimi directed Spider-Man 2 in 2004 and Spider-Man 3 in 2007, and returned to the Marvel universe in 2022 with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite his recent collaboration with Marvel, he stated that he hasn't had discussions with Tobey Maguire or the studios about a potential fourth Spider-Man film.

In a 2022 interview, the director expressed that he was open to the idea of directing another Spider-Man film and working with Maguire and Kirsten Dunst again. However, for now, it seems that a fourth Spider-Man movie under Raimi's direction remains a subject of speculation.

Do you think Spider-Man 4 will still have the classic combination of Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire? Let us know!
