Earth's Underwater Internet Cables Visualized

A DataViz Tyler Morgan-Wall has created a visualization of the Earth's submarine fiber optic cable network.

DataViz and the developer of rayshader, rayrender, and the rayverse Tyler Morgan-Wall has created a fantastic visualization of the Earth's underwater fiber optic cable network. According to the author, this project was made using RStats and rayrender – an open-source R package for raytracing scenes created in R. rayrender builds scenes using a pipeable iterative interface and supports diffuse, metallic, dielectric (glass), light-emitting materials, as well as procedural and user-specified image textures and HDR environment lighting. rayrender includes multicore support (with progress bars) via RcppThread, random number generation via the PCG RNG, and .obj file support via TinyObjLoader. You can learn more about rayrender here.

The project's code can be accessed here. Also, don't forget to join our new Reddit pageour new Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we are sharing breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
