EA AntiCheat is a kernel-mode anti-cheat and anti-tamper solution developed in-house at Electronic Arts.
Electronic Arts announced EA AntiCheat (EAAC) – its own kernel-mode anti-cheat and anti-tamper solution, which will be first released with FIFA 23 scheduled to be launched on September 30.
"PC cheat developers have increasingly moved into the kernel, so we need to have kernel-mode protections to ensure fair play and tackle PC cheat developers on an even playing field."
EA's desire to create its own solution was driven by the "opaqueness" of third-party anti-cheats, they prevent the company from implementing additional privacy controls or customizations that provide greater accuracy and granularity for EA-specific game modes. With EAAC, Electronic Arts can fix security issues as soon as they arise and provide protection across all platforms.
The appearance of the solution doesn't mean you'll see it in every game, EA will determine anti-cheat needs for each project as for single-player-only titles or games without competitive ladders, the cheat landscape differs.
The company promised EAAC will have a "negligible impact" on your gameplay and will shut down when the game does.
FIFA 23 will be the last game to use the name, all the following titles will be called EA Sports FC.
