Epic Games Releases the Broadcast and Live Events Field Guide

The guide contains over 80 pages of production-proven tips from industry producers who showcased their real-time workflows for live sporting events, concerts, news, AR-enhanced broadcasts, and more.

Epic Games has announced the release of the new Broadcast and Live Events Field Guide which contains over 80 pages of industry insights.

To create the guide, Epic Games talked to a number of producers, including people who produced the International 10 competition, the Guns N Roses We’re F’N’ Back! tour, the AT&T Discover District, the Carolina Panthers, Rocket League, The Weather Channel, and others to learn more about their real-time workflows for live sporting events, concerts, news, AR-enhanced broadcasts, and more.

The guide contains a number of useful information including how real-time technology is used by industry producers and when real-time makes sense for a project. By reading the guide, you'll also learn planning and setup techniques for real-time workflows as well as find out how to build a team to make the switch.

The company also announced its Broadcast and Live Events: Steal the Show that started on October 10. The event is available online for free, with new content dropping daily through to October 14. By watching Broadcast and Live Events: Steal the Show, you'll learn how top creatives in broadcast and live events are using Unreal Engine to attract viewers.

The show will provide you with a behind-the-scenes look at the buildout of the new FOX Sports virtual production studio that leverages real-time systems to deliver AR-enhanced broadcasts as well as a look at how Pixomondo, alter ego, William F. White International, and Virtual Production Academy filled a CG stadium with 18,000 dynamic fans driven by Unreal Engine for the Caledon Soccer Club.

In addition, Epic Games revealed a program that promotes Unreal Engine service partners in broadcast and live events. The program is open to partners by invitation only and is designed to give customers access to broadcast and live events service partners who can provide them with support, co-development, and implementation of Unreal Engine-powered workflows. The program currently features over sixty partners and covers a wide range of expertise for many industries. You can learn more about the program here.
