Ex-Rockstar Dev Creates a New Relaxing Game About Nature

Obbe Vermeij works on a single-player project named Plentiful that doesn't sound like GTA at all.

Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who worked on several GTA franchise titles, is working on his new project, Plentiful, which is a "relaxing game about creating conditions for nature to thrive."

Described as a god game, Plentiful offers the players to shape the map by moving stones and create conditions for nature and tribes to live and prosper. Be aware of the weather conditions, as, for example, you need to catch water flows in ponds or lakes, and make sure that you place trees and plants near the water so they will flourish and produce food.

This relaxing single-player features a modifiable world map, water simulation, growing vegetation, change of seasons and daytime, and various levels with different objectives.

Obbe Vermeij has worked on GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA 3, and more. He has been sharing behind-the-scenes moments creating the titles, for example, why, unlike in GTA 3, there was no litter on the streets of the game's San Andreas or how the game's mirrors were made. He also commented on the GTA 6 leaks, stating that it's in the best interest of AAA developers "to be quiet" because everything they say gets analyzed by many and is often spun negatively. Another Rockstar developer also noted that big companies' actions are instantly noticed and discussed when commenting on the potential creation of the GTA game set in Japan in the early 2000s. Obbe Vermeij also expressed his expectations concerning the highly anticipated GTA 6 and said that fans may be disappointed as it might not be too different from the previous installment.
