In a recent interview, Naoki Yoshida, the Producer of Final Fantasy 16, talked about the future of the Final Fantasy series and shared that the next installment might be a good opportunity to bring something new to the franchise.
When Yoshida was asked whether he would take over the next Final Fantasy game, he shared that "nothing's been decided yet" and maybe it's time for a younger generation to develop the series rather than "the same old guys" working on it.
"Instead of having the same old guys handle the next game, I think in some ways it would be good to look to the future and bring in a younger generation with more youthful sensibilities, to make a new Final Fantasy with challenges that suit today's world," he shared.
Speaking of the advice he'd give to the future Director, Yoshida said "just dive in and first put down on paper what you believe would be the most enjoyable FF, before thinking too hard about it." Afterward, he proposed that they could finalize the specific features they wanted the game to include, such as a blend of turn-based combat and real-time action, or a return to the series' original pixel art style.
