As the autumn launch window for Avowed, Obsidian’s upcoming fantasy RPG project, draws closer, game director Carrie Patel participated in an Xbox podcast where she shared fresh gameplay footage and more details about the game.

In this 27-minute deep dive, one significant detail Patel confirmed is that the game includes a third-person camera mode. That's to say, Avowed can be played in third-person, not just first-person. This should come as a relief for some as Obsidian's previous open-world RPG, The Outer Worlds, makes it difficult for players to see the characters they created at the game's start due to only having the first-person perspective.
In addition to this player-pleasing point, Patel shared footage of some NPCs, such as Yatzli, which she described:
“She’s a wizard. She’s very fun. She’s a little risque in a way that I think makes her a lot of fun to talk to. She’s got some very good banter with the other companions. She’s just a little lightning ball with a lot of personality."

Later, she introduced the Party Camp, the narrative hub and upgrade center mentioned around the 10-minute mark. This is where you can get to know your companions better, learn about their backgrounds, and upgrade your gear.
Additionally, the interview revealed more details about the game, such as its RPG mechanics, dialogue options, NPC abilities, and more. Feel free to check it out here, which might help you decide whether this game is a future addition to your collection once it's released.
