God of War Ragnarök Art Director: Odin Was the Hardest Character to Design

Raf Grasseti, the art director of God of War Ragnarök, teased that Odin was the hardest character to design saying that he can't wait for people to finally see him.

Although Odin was heavily referenced in 2018's God of War, he never showed up in the game. However, the character will finally appear in God of War Ragnarök, and Santa Monica is expected to unveil Odin in the next trailer of the game.

While the character was not yet shown in any trailer or a screenshot, the studio started to tease him saying that Odin was the hardest character to design.

The fact that Santa Monica's developers had the most difficult time working out the design of Odin in God of War Ragnarök, was revealed by the art director of the game, Raf Grasseti, who as pointed out by the God of War subreddit, started answering questions about the game on his Instagram.

According to Grasseti, he and concept designer Dela Longfish spent a lot of time creating the character. The art director also added that he can't wait for people to finally see Odin.

Following Grasseti's comment, some Reddit users recalled that when answering a similar question about the previous God of War game, Grasseti said that the most difficult character to create was Jörmungandr, also known as the World Serpent, who became an ally of Kratos and Atreus after the pair had awakened him from slumber within the Lake of Nine. Fans of God of War believe that something similar should be expected from Odin, in particular in terms of scale.

Later, Grasseti also tweeted a picture of a replica of Mjölnir from the God of War Ragnarök Collector's Edition. The fans immediately paid attention to the rune slots, similar to the ones Leviathan Axe from the previous part of the game had, and started speculating that Mjölnir can be used as a weapon in the upcoming title.
